Sprocket Conveyor Rollers for Chain Driven Conveyor Systems
Sprocket conveyor rollers are designed for chain driven conveyor systems where multiple rollers need synchronized powered rotation. They are commonly used in pallet conveyors, automated transfer lines, accumulation conveyors, and heavy duty chain driven applications.
LEEV manufactures custom sprocket conveyor rollers according to chain standards, sprocket structures, roller diameters, shaft configurations, and conveyor layouts. Both ISO / DIN and ANSI chain systems are available.

Single and Double Sprocket Structures
Available with single sprocket and double sprocket configurations for different conveyor layouts.
Nylon and Steel Sprocket Options
Nylon plastic sprockets and hardened steel sprockets are available for different conveyor environments.

Sprocket Conveyor Roller Structures & Material Configurations
Different sprocket structures and material combinations are selected according to conveyor environments, transmission layouts, wear resistance, and project cost requirements.

Steel Single Sprocket Roller
A practical structure for chain driven roller systems where stable transmission, repeat production, and reliable sprocket engagement are required.

Stainless Tube with Carbon Steel Sprocket
A cost-effective solution that combines stainless steel tube corrosion resistance with the better wear performance of carbon steel sprockets.

Nylon Plastic Sprocket Roller
Designed for lighter conveyor systems where lower running noise, reduced weight, and corrosion resistance are more important than heavy load capacity.
Sprocket conveyor rollers are built to the chain a line already runs โ most commonly ISO/DIN B-series (DIN 8187) or A-series (DIN 8188 / ANSI) โ for conveyor OEMs, automation builders, and system integrators. The sprocket is made to your drawing โ tooth count, profile, bore, roller diameter, shaft, and load โ so send your sprocket drawing (or a chain spec/sample if you donโt have one) and we build to it.
| Pitch | B-series (DIN 8187) | A-series (DIN 8188 / ANSI) | Roller ร (B / A) | Inner width (B / A) | Typical roller application |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 12.7 mm (1/2โณ) | 08B-1 | 08A-1 / #40 | 8.51 / 7.92 mm | 7.75 / 7.92 mm | Light-duty chain-driven rollers for carton & tote handling |
| 15.875 mm (5/8โณ) | 10B-1 | 10A-1 / #50 | 10.16 / 10.16 mm | 9.65 / 9.53 mm | Medium-duty sprocket rollers for conveyor OEMs & automation |
| 19.05 mm (3/4โณ) | 12B-1 | 12A-1 / #60 | 12.07 / 11.91 mm | 11.68 / 12.70 mm | Heavy-duty rollers for pallet handling equipment |
| 25.4 mm (1โณ) | 16B-1 | 16A-1 / #80 | 15.88 / 15.88 mm | 17.02 / 15.88 mm | Heavy-load sprocket rollers for industrial material handling |
B-series (DIN 8187) and A-series (DIN 8188 / ANSI) share the same pitch but differ in roller diameter and width, so they run on different sprockets โ each sprocket is made to your drawing.
- Beyond the sizes above, other chain pitches and non-standard tooth counts are made to your drawing or sample.
- Final chain, sprocket, shaft, and roller specifications are confirmed before production.
Stock plastic (nylon) sprockets
| Configuration | Teeth (Z) | Drive | Material | Typical use |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Single sprocket (08B-1) | 9T · 11T · 14T | One single 08B chain | Nylon | Light-duty chain-driven rollers — quieter running, light weight, corrosion-resistant |
| Double sprocket (08B double simplex, 2 × 08B-1) | 11T · 14T | Two single 08B chains | Nylon | Roller-to-roller (tandem) drive — chain in from the previous roller, out to the next |
Hardened-steel sprockets and other tooth counts are made to your drawing for higher-load or higher-wear duty.
Manufacturing and Engineering Details
For sprocket conveyor rollers, the manufacturing accuracy of the sprocket is just as important as the roller tube itself. Sprocket radial run-out, end face run-out, welding position, and shaft concentricity can directly influence chain transmission stability.
If the sprocket end face run-out is too large, the chain may not run smoothly during operation. This can cause abnormal noise, faster sprocket and chain wear, vibration, and unstable material conveying.
Sprocket Engagement and Bearing Seat Tolerance
Beyond run-out and concentricity, two checks decide whether a sprocket roller runs reliably under chain load. The first is sprocket-to-chain engagement: we confirm that the teeth seat correctly in the chain so the load is shared across several teeth instead of being concentrated on one. Poor engagement leads to uneven tooth wear, added noise, and faster chain stretch.

Checking sprocket-to-chain engagement so the load is shared across multiple teeth.
The second is the bearing seat on the sprocket shaft, which matters just as much. If the bearing seat is oversized, the bearing can turn in the seat instead of with the shaft, which causes rapid wear and early failure. Machining the seat before hardening does not hold up, because heat treatment shifts the dimension and the tolerance drifts. For this reason we harden the shaft first and then finish-machine the bearing seat to final size. Hardened steel is harder and slower to cut, so this adds cost, but it is the only way to hold the bearing-seat tolerance.

Hardened first, then the bearing seat is finish-machined to hold final tolerance.
Material and Surface Treatment
- Carbon steel sprockets can be heat treated to improve wear resistance for continuous chain transmission.
- 304 stainless steel sprockets are available for corrosive conveyor environments, but they are usually more expensive and may not provide the same wear resistance as hardened carbon steel sprockets.
- For many conveyor systems, a practical solution is to use stainless steel roller tubes with carbon steel sprockets, balancing corrosion resistance, sprocket durability, and project cost.
- When carbon steel sprockets are welded to stainless steel tubes, the sprockets are commonly black oxide treated before welding.
- For carbon steel rollers, the sprocket and tube are usually welded first and then zinc plated together.

Custom Manufacturing Capability
- Steel sprockets are typically customized according to customer drawings.
- Customized sprocket positions, double sprocket layouts, shaft structures, and mounting dimensions can be manufactured according to conveyor designs.
- For long-term projects, commonly used sprocket models may be prepared in advance to help shorten repeat order lead times.
